they test for opiates because they can be and are abused by those who do not have prescriptions . Tramadol is a synthetic opioid as is Vicodin - synthetic opioid. Tramadol may not even show up on the panel - but to be safe -

Just have a valid script .

They are also abused by those who do have prescriptions.

Happens all the time.

sure, so many are of oxy and vico junkies. some doctors are all too willing to make people happy. there was a crackdown on writing scripts but maybe some lost the memo

True but new scrip regulations on certain meds are making it harder to fill them. Certain meds can no longer be written with refills and require the patient to see their doctor every month now for a new scrip everytime. And quantities for the 30 days are also being restricted.

Insurance companies have to follow those regulations. If a person is paying cash, they might get away more, but CVS in our area actually requires an ID now for certain meds.

I may be wrong, but I've been told that drug tests for employment are only testing for illegal drugs. If you take a prescription, it shouldn't be a problem.

It may disqualify you. It's no secret that doctors can be found who will prescribe drugs to anyone who wants them.

Wrong! If a patient has a script, and if it is disclosed, it will NOT disqualify you.

Tramadol is synthetic medication and the least abused..the rate of abuse is very very low..believe me they are not even thinking of Tramadol...

On a side note lol if you can find a MD to prescribe whatever you want - Tramadol is not going to be the drug chosen lol..

Your MD prescribed it for you..good enough for me. You don't need to justify to us or them how often you take it, refilled etc. It is all good lol..

Great news on the job!

I have been told each time that they test for illegal drugs, not prescription drugs.

Prescription drugs that aren't prescribed are illegal. They want to make sure the person has a prescription if that drugs is in their bloodstream especially with Schedule 1,2 and 3 drugs.

As I said, I have always been told that they test only for illegal drugs, it is seldom an extensive panel of tests. See post 42.

I haven't read the previous responses, so maybe this has been stated.

If you have a prescription for your medication, you are fine.
