I just started doing this course online. If it weren't for the 10% I'll be saving on my car insurance I wouldn't bother. It is so tediously boring, thank goodness it's good for 3 years.

@Jordan2 If it is the AARP driving test you will be ready for the asylum by the time you finish. My DD and I both took this test last year and it was awful. We would call each other and just vent. It was the only way to stay sane.
Good luck, this too shall pass.

My wife and I went to the classes and I was surprised at how little some of the older drivers knew about driving safely and always defensively. Wasn't surprised when several told about the accidents they had pretty much caused. Many were there because their insurance had gone up after a couple accidents.
Didn't learn anything I didn't already know, but worth the time to save the money, and listen to the stories. Been driving 62+ years and never had any collisions when I was driving. Insurers have made a big profit from insuring me.

I did it last year for the insurance discount and decided it was going on the list of "Never Doing That Again".
I don't know which one you are taking, I did the one from Triple A and every so often I had to stop and call a number for voice recognition to make sure it was me doing it.

Is it the online Drive Smart from AAA? That is so boring, repeating the same two activities over and over. And I paid for it. Some of the challenges are literally impossible, so it’s discouraging too.
I’ve taken a mature driving class (in person, not online). That was worth doing.

@Another new name Sue - not the one I did. It was like reading the new drivers manual with visuals for 6 hours and you couldn't turn the page until you had spent so many minutes on the page you were on.
I sat here saying to myself, oh gawd kill me now. The only reason I finished it was because I had paid for it. If I had paid half the price I did and it really wasn't a lot, I would have abandoned it after an hour!
I can't imagine what it would have been like in a classroom setting and not the kitchen table.

@Another new name Sue I'm taking the I Drive Safely (something like that), I took the course from them 3 years ago. It is a significant savings over year, the only reason I'm taking it. It is so boring, I started yesterday and did 3 units, I have 5 more I hope to finish by the end of the week.

This is suppose to be a 6 hour course but I'm not buying it. I did 2 hours yesterday and 4 hours today, and I still have 2 of the 8 units left.

Do you have to actually drive a car or is it a simulation sort of thing?

@SilleeMee, no a lot of reading and short videos with a quiz after each unit with 10 questions you have to get 70% on. You also have to verify it's you every so often, you have to call a number and they verify you by your voice.
