I know I'll either get blasted for my comments or the message will get removed.  Here goes.

Do any of you think QVC should have a dress code.  Even a small code.  There's one host who is in jeans all the time. Really, I've never seen anything else on this host.  Nothing wrong with jeans, but shouldn't a professional TV host look professional and not like someone ready to wash the car or clean the cellar or garage.  JMO.

It may depend upon what is being sold.  A high-end jewelry show would call for more formal attire.  A preesentation of a lawn mower or power washer would be better suited to jeans.

The only "dress code" that I would prefer is that the hosts should wear clothing sold on QVC with that info prominently displayed.  It might cut down on the endless "do you know what the host is wearing" posts that appear here.

Were the jeans ripped, torn, dirty or distressed so that they actually looked like they're getting to wash the car or clean the garage?

No?  If they are clean and neat then what does it matter...

Not just hosts but vendors as well. There was a vendor representing handbags who was wearing a colorful printed romper. The neutral handbags couldn't compete. Attention was drawn away from the bags and onto the vendor.

The hosts are there to sell, sell, sell. I worked in an R and D lab and we had a dress code.

Hubbs was interviewed for a job and told he would have to get rid of his beard. He chose not to and about 4 weeks later he was called w/the job offer.

So in answer to your ? I don't think it is necessary for the Q to have a serious DC.

There is a pharmacy in our little town that has a tech w/blue hair. I would think that is a DC violation, but there are lot of shortages in Pharmacies.

If they are presenting fashion, they should wear QVC clothing, and that info should be easily available. If they are selling hardlines, I wonder if it matters.

I don't like when hosts brag about how expensive their non-QVC clothing is. It feels "better than thou."

I would like it if QVC added more professionalism in most areas. Not only in attire, but also poor grammer & bad habits on camera. At least it hasn't lowered to a level of nose picking, burping and farting. As someone else stated though, I think if someone is selling cleaning products & equipment they're best suited in clothes that looks like they're ready for work. Maybe a fart or two would actually help sell a powerwasher.

@coffee drinker    It's not so much  what they wear as it is the way they wear it.  Jeans can look very dressy if pressed and worn in dark indigo, just like any other navy pant.  If however, the jean is a casual style, distressed with rips and "whiskering" worn with a sloppy tee shirt half tucked and stringy, unkempt hair, then yes, the offender should be told to clean up her act.

They probably tolerate it as a nod to the younger generation, so don't expect miraculous changes.
