I think dreams are often a way of dealing with things happening in our lives.  Our subconscious brain helps resolve questions.

Once in a while, a realistic dream is often a visit from someone on the other side, just to let us know they're still with us, a comforting visit.  I remember one time I had this dream - only part I remember is that my mom was sleeping on the left side of the bed, I on the right and my precious Jade (yellow lab) in the middle.  It was so real, upon awakening I jumped up - I was in the bed alone.  So I ran down the hallway and looked into the bathroom (my mother had lost her balance after breaking her neck and I used to help her to the bathroom) - she wasn't there!!!  Then suddenly feeling alone, I searched for Jade.  I checked the master bedroom thinking perhaps she had jumped up on that bed to sleep; and finally looking in the sunporch - where I found her sleeping on the couch.  It was so real, it was a visit from heaven; and I felt like it was real in my waking state.  Then, I realized she was always with me even though I cannot physically see/feel her - a mother's love, I guess.

P.S.  I had awakened Jade.  She just gave me one of those "what's wrong with you mama" looks and went back to sleep.Woman LOL

Anyways, we can get answers, comforts and visits from dreams, imho.

@eddyandme -

I loved your dream experience.

It reminded me of 2 times for me.

Once was one of the worst so real nightmares ever in college.

I walked miles in the early am with a friend to get to another friend's house I was so upset. (and no we weren't on any drugs!)

Anyway this older comforting friend said that studies show that dreams/nightmares can be determined by 3 things-

how tired/overtired we are

What we saw before going to bed-tv, pictures etc.

and what we ate before bed.

Well being in college-yes always in a zombie all night study state.

Had been looking at pictures from my biology class (don't do before bed!)

and had eaten the traditional college dinner-pizza of course.

But then , then on other times. our dreams and those we love, that energy and spirit isn't destroyed.

@ days before he went to the rainbow bridge-I saw our biggest beautiful and youngest dog right by my bed. I felt awake and saw him so clearly I woke up. When I got to hear his voice for real I said I love you, he barked and then went to heaven where all dogs go.

Another time I was 10 years old and was in bed and woke up to see my granadfather at the foot of my bed in a cloudy kind of for. I don't believe in ghosts but I always wondered was that my imagination or what? It was very clear.

Then 7 years after my grandfather died my sister and I had a dream.

The same dream! Of him saying he was happy now and that meant so much because he hadn't been when he died. I told her what I had dreamt and there was a big silence and she said she had dreamt the same the same night. And you know they say our cells change

 every 7 years.

I've had so many other great experiences with those who have left this earthly earth.

There are so many beautiful things we can not explain and that can be a very hopeful and comforting thing.

I know one thing, if I eat ice cream before I go to bed, I have the strangest dreams that border nightmares!

Great for dieting! Smiley Happy

I find that most of my dreams are simply distractions from a good night's sleep.

WOW!  Your 'dreams' (I call them visitations) are amazing:  and are totally different than other types of dreams.  Never heard of double visits together like that, but it just shows how all things can happen without earthly limitations/assumptions - sort of like quartum physics proves all particles are constantly moving - a thing I cannot fully understand, particularly when attemptingto move a heavy object!

I believe it was Sylvia Browne who explained this phenomena by explaining the Other Side differs from here in that everything 'moves' faster.  Our deep level of sleep - forgot what it's called - is closest in speed and makes for easier comminication/visitation with the Other Side.

I'm glad your grandfather is happy!  And, my Jade still protects me too - our furbabies could always function beyond the Veil.  I truly believe, @on the bay .

I had a dream recently where I was standing in line somewhere and the woman in front of me turned to me and handed me a piece of paper. It said B**ch shut up and calm down. I woke up upset and wondering what the heck. Later I realized the woman with the paper was me and I was telling myself to calm down and get an issue I was concerned about worked out.

I think it's just our brains running around grabbing random memories/thoughts and having a great time smashing them together in no order or sequence and playing them back for us while we sleep.  Since we have no way to change the channel we are at our brain's mercy and yeah I think we have all experienced what happens when the brain is allowed to create random thoughts and pictures.  Smiley LOL  Sometimes some of us get "lucky" and actually have a "vision" or coherent dream that seems meaningful, but most of the time for me my brain is like "You thought what you saw today was crazy?"..."here, eyes, hold my beer"Smiley LOL

Yes with our pets too!

I had so many experiences with our first dog, the love of our lives after he went to his heaven home that I wrote them all down everyday.

So many times of feeling thoughts

and yes at the same time as other family members.

One father of a boy that died that was the same age as my son, the closest I could feel to my own children, a year after he died I was sitting outside and felt him "saying he was happy,  I could feel his spirit.

I was talking to his father and was going to tell him but his father told me he had a feeling that his son was telling him he was happy. Then I told him my experience and it was the same day we both felt that.

It does make me feel happy that though in a different form they are with us.Love is there. Just getting used to not having them in the physical form and having a relationship with them where their spirits and love are.

I know this is about dreams but all the most wonderful experiences I've had with those I love and miss were when I was awake.
