I've also had the dream where I was trying to scream and nothing came out. 

 

I remember a dream I had when I was a teenager and sharing my room with 2 younger sisters.  This time I did manage to get a shout out.

 

I dreamed I was in the bathroom on the toilet, and someone kept  opening the door, just a crack.  I said "shut the door", but they kept opening it.  

 

Finally I yelled, "SHUT THE DOOR!" as loud as I could.  But all that was vocalized was "SHUT!"

 

The next morning I could hear my sisters talking, "Did you hear her yell last night?  It sounded like she said "shut!"
