Yes we DVR'd this show but will watch later.

If he kept his license, he would be subject to disciplinary action, which wouldn't be good for the show.
Name one rule that he has broken from the "counseling" book.

I'm sure she CAN'T.

Frankly, I think his program provides a lot of help to people who are at the end of their rope or who have tried every way they know how to solve a problem.
You may not like his methods but at least he steps up and try to help. It would be interesting to know how many hundreds of thousands of dollars he has paid getting people help. He always tells people at the end that he (which I think would include his foundation) will pay for the help he is offering.

Does he pay or do his advertisers pay? Is the help he is offering coming directly from his own bank account?

I think this is a legitimate question however..... If I needed help for myself or a family member.... the source wouldn't matter..... the fact that someone was offering help and was financing it either from his pockets or was resourceful enough to find the finances would be such a gift to me.

Oh, I agree with you regarding the financial end of it. However, there are far better ways of getting help than becoming a spectacle on a television show with someone who is not a licensed therapist. If this man is so good at what he does, then why the inability to get himself licensed?
The previous poster implied that it was coming out of his own pocket, when in reality, it isn't.

He is not a licensed therapist but he WAS a licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas.
There is no demonstrated INability to get himself licensed. His choice to not be licensed, probably has a lot more to do with "liabilities" than his "abilities".
As a "licensed" psychologist, it would be unethical for him to expose his patients to public scrutiny (Dr./Patient confidentiality), etc.....

I believe this kind of a show helps more than hurts; people choose to be on the show. They must see the benefits of it. No person, including Dr. Phil, is perfect. It is hard to balance entertainment and giving people help. They know they are going to get his opinion. They don't have to take it.
