Dr. Birx was talking about specific areas of the country that are/were the hardest hit by the virus. NY/Detroit/Louisiana etc. when she made that statement. Maybe you, and others interpreted it differently than I did.

Whatever you feel is right for you? Go for it. I plan on doing the same as the last 2+ weeks.

My above post was not meant to criticize or "offend" anyone. I am sorry it wandered off into a topic of who is/was right or wrong. As I stated in my post, people can hear and/or even read the exact same information and come up with different interpretations.

Nobody, in my view, is right or wrong

@hckynut - I didn't take it as criticism at all! I was just trying to add to it, based on quotes from Dr. Birx about the three other (newer) places, thinking that might make people who live in or near those places be more aware.

I know you would never offend anyone, and I agree with you - we all interpret things differently.

It helps me to read what others know. Usually, the more I know about something the more I feel connected.

I do try to be careful when I post. I would never have posted this unless I heard or read a direct quote, and I did.

I think I'm safe in saying two things we all agree with: this virus is VERY contagious and can be deadly, and I trust the experts as to the advice I should listen to.

Re: Dr. Birx - Don't go to grocery stores or pharmacies

I am not going out in stores, but I do need to make a few stops tomorrow and pick some things up. I dread even going, but its a*9

I havne't been going in anywhere, but I do need to make a few stops tomorrow. I need to get gas, and I dread that. It would be great if we could just all stay home.

Its just not doable for me. I am afraid I will run out of kitty litter. Was going to order it from chewy, they are out. Will go pick it up at Wal Mart. It seems there is always something I am needing or afraid I am going to need.

I have a fear, perhaps irrational that we will be quarantined and not able to go anywhere. I guess I want to be prepared and its hard to think of everything.

I bought enough groceries for 2 weeks yesterday. We are to stay in unless its essential travel. Although, people are lining up at Lowes to buy paint and flowers. SMH

Re: Dr. Birx - Don't go to grocery stores or pharmacies

I went for a ride yesterday to get out of the house and went by Lowes & Home Depot and both were packed.  In my county in NY the mayor is suggesting if you need to go out depending if your birth date is even to go out Tues, Thurs & Sat and if you date is odd Mon, Wed & Fri & Sun for the next two weeks and that's even for outdoor activities such as walks etc.  We'll see how that works out.

Re: Dr. Birx - Don't go to grocery stores or pharmacies

OK we are shut down to avoid getting the virus.

Where are the data on treatment?  Of those who died - how many were given any of the experimental meds - and at what stage?

Of those who recovered - same question.

I get that the meds are experimental and in trials - but how extensively are we using them to potentially save lives?  Are dying people being given the "right to try?"  Are others offered this option BEFORE they progress to a point where they are dying?

I know the media calls this "snake oil" - and some governors don't want any meds used until they are "proven" - but it would seem that they would ask for the data that would prove them either right or wrong on this issue.

Why is no one asking for this - and why aren't the experts providing it without being asked?  They are certainly quick with all their "projections" that have to be adjusted over and over - how about some actual data?

I'm sorry but that is ridiculous how is staying in your car taking a ride going to infect anyone?  Thankfully they haven't done that yet in NY.

@Isobel Archer

I was asking many of those same questions.

Then I discovered if I went to my state's Dept. Of Health website and listened to my governor's press conferences instead of the national media, I found a lot more answers to many of my questions.  At least as they pertain to my state.

Many of the local reporters ask the officials those same questions that you have, and my state officials answer them to the best of their ability.
