Downton Abbey-just started watching and have question

After reading such rave reviews about this series, I ordered Seasons 1 & 2 from Amazon. I'm almost done watching season 2, but my question is about the new season starting Sunday.

Are we one season behind what is shown in the UK? Season 3 is starting here, but I just saw on Amazon that Season 3 is available for pre-order and will be released the end of January. I just want to make sure that I will be up to date when I watch the new season on Sunday. I am loving this show and can't wait to see what happens next - so addictive!!
