Down Filled Jackets -- Made in China -- Quality Issues

Hi everyone. I need your help on this one. Just bought DH a new down filled parka which he will not keep because of reports that garments made in China with down are produced with inferior (dangerous???) fill as opposed to pure down. Does anyone have any insight or info on this? It is so hard to find anything now that is not made in China. This was a good brand jacket.

The other issue is that when you do find one not made in China, the zippers are cheap.
