I lived in a dorm for one year and while it wasn't always nirvana, I wouldn't trade the experience... As for the bathroom situation, I don't see the big deal and fail to find it 'disgusting' that a (gasp) male actually used a urinal in what was supposedly the girl's bathroom... To me, that's a 'get over it' kind of thing...

This is 'just me', but I wouldn't want a bunch of college freshmen 'boys' roaming around my room.  On the other hand, I'm sure that many (or at least some) other young women would relish the thought.   To each our own.....

 

By 'boys', I often see the young-ish freshman boys visiting/staying with the college girls in rented houses in our neighborhood.  Very, very young-ish, freshman high-school-ish- looking college boys, if you ask me. 

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
