There is a bad egg in every line of work. I wouldn't judge the who company or all drivers because of one jerk.

@Cakers3 Thanks for the clarification.

Isn't this blackmail?

@Flyer98 - If this was true, Door Dash would have shut the doors and no longer be in operation. Yes, bad things happen, but it's the exception and not the rule.

@ciao_bella I also need to clarify the driver did not take the tip because she had placed the note in the bag, assuming there would be no tip.
That is why she refused the tip and stated in the video it had to do with the note. She really seemed embarrassed and left in a hurry.
Of course the damage was done. I give her credit for refusing the tip but the note was out of line.

I use Door dash, Uber eats etc frequently. My bags are on secured. Stapled or heat sealed plastic. The drivers can't get into them. Second Door dash would immediately terminate that guy if she contacted cs. They have excellent cs. The customer is always right with them and that has written proof. My nephew drives for Instacart part-time and he says about 50% of customers either don't tip or under tip. Meaning they just give $1 ot 2. He doesn't mind because the other half gives 15 or 20 % so it all averages out. He makes his money. None of the drivers care about a single customer who stiffs them on the tip.
.
@chrystaltree The incident is on video. Newsweek even has a copy in its report. The video was captured on the customers home Nest camera.

For that reason, the tip should be quite generous, at least 40%.
@occasionalrain I place frequent orders with Costco through Instacart. I consider myself to be a generous tipper but I would not be able to afford a 40% tip on a $180 order very often. That's not reasonable. Maybe if I lived in a building with difficult parking and stairs.
I have never ordered thru GrubHub and the like.

I've never used this service and will think twice going forward!

@Flyer98 : I use Door Dash......bags are stapled shut or even tape with restaurant logo across the opening of bag.
