Donations for Pets, Which Organization is Best?

The ads for the MSPCA have appeared quite often on the TV today. Seeing those totally emaciated, unloved and abused animals is killing me. I would like to donate to help these poor animals but I would like my donation to count and to be put to good use. Do you donate to any of these organizations and if so, which do you consider to be the best? Thank you.
