I was at Dollar General last Friday and they are starting to put out Christmas decorations. And, I don't think they were last year's, as they had shelves cleared off and unopened boxes in the aisles. Somebody said they thought Wal-Mart was starting to put out Christmas things, too.

Costco has t(eir Christmas stuff out too. You can't miss the large lighted trees as soon as you enter. The halloween stuff is right next to it.
As in past years, The Christmas stuff is available around the time the kids go back go school.

I hate that they rush the holiday seasons. We haven't even gotten to Halloween yet ( who knows how that will work out).

That now seems to have become the norm to see Christmas stuff right next to the Halloween decor in stores....

SAMS CLUB also has christmas stuff and christmas gifts out. i already purchased a box of cookies for my mom in a "merry and bright" box and gave them to her.
no surprise since i began to see HALLOWEEN stuff over a month ago there.

So does the Q.

Fifty years ago I didn't know anyone who displayed Christmas year round. Now I know 2 homes in which a whole room is dedicated to Christmas.
I have a dozen of Joan Rivers' eggs. I know they were sold as Christmas offerings, but I display some on a large flat piece of pottery. It's a changing display on the bottom shelf of my coffee table, not Christmasy at all. ( I have no idea what time of year I bought any of them.)

I have made myself promise NO new fall or Christmas decor. Got out my fall/Halloween stuff and realize I don't need a thing. I even left two items in their boxes in storage.
I know I have plenty of Christmas stuff, so will try not to buy anything new.
I haven't been shopping in a store in a long time, so don't know what is out here. I did have to go to CVS a couple days ago....usually this time of year they have displayed a separate aisle of candy. It's not there this year.

According to Retail News websites, major retailers will be offering Christmas decorations earlier.
Usually they wait until October and November. Four main reasons why not this year.
Amazon Prime Day Moved from July to October 5. Retailers are worried about competing dollars.
Store Safety Concerns from Covid-19. Fewer people are allowed in the stores at the same time.
Deliveries are taking longer.
Unspent dollars during Covid-19.

I think I heard on a news report that many stores were going to do this because of what is going on they wanted to bring happy memories or something that brings out the best in people and Christmas is one of those events that does.
I know that Halloween merchandise has been out for some time as well. In many neighborhoods they are unsure if there will be any trick or treating and this way the retailers have a way of getting some profits.
When I worked retail (and I did in many different capacities) one of the stores would not put up any of their Christmas decor until Thanksgiving had passed.
Who knows how many are going into brick and mortar stores this year.
I know Costco, Target and Wal-mart are getting their share of customers but there are other retail locations that are still not open or open to a larger amount of people.
