I agree, dogs are not accessories.
@sunshine 919
No they are not accessories! To many, they are the only family they will ever have.....

ADA law states service dogs are allowed in all public areas.

Oh lord, one day I was in the bakery aisle, saw a woman open the door on the roll case, cough into the case and then proceed to take her rolls out and shut the door.
I don't remember if I actually wanted fresh rolls that day but after seeing that, no I didn't...

I know, right? I love dogs as well, but I am a firm believer that there is a time and place for animals and the grocery store is not one of those places, unless you truly need a service dog,but otherwise no!! Children are human beings and therefore should not be banned from grovery stores. Granted if they are touching all over everything, it is up to their parents to put a stop to it, but comparing children and dogs in the grovery store is just crazy to me!!!My own opinion!

I love my dog but would never bring him to any store, let alone a grocery store.
We frequently go to a bakery for cappuccino. A number of people have come in with dogs. The owner always tells them she will be fined if she let's dogs inside. I do not know whether or not it's true, but it works.
Don't service dogs wear a vest?

Gross! I hate it when the cashier has a cold and sniffles and puts her hands up to her mouth and nose and then handles the food. It is just so gross.

I don't know. Kind of silly.

ADA laws make it clear A SERVICE DOG IS NOT A PET.
1. Q: What are the laws that apply to my business?
A: Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), privately owned businesses that serve the public, such as restaurants, hotels, retail stores, taxicabs, theaters, concert halls, and sports facilities, are prohibited from discriminating against individuals with disabilities. The ADA requires these businesses to allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals onto business premises in whatever areas customers are generally allowed.

@Noel7 Is there anything in that link about how we are to know which are service dogs? Do they have some special tag or harness?

From what I've seen online, the dog should be wearing an identifiable vest on their back. I don't know if the person has to carry some sort of ID.
