There is a door you can install in a screen door so I don't know why you couldn't put it in a storm door. They only make them for smaller dogs. I had one for my miniature poodle. I think I got it through the Improvements Catalog. If you'll do an online search, you can find some specialty doors.

They now also have doors that are electronic, only the chip on your pets collar can open it.

That's great to know, nunya.

Where did you find them? TIA

Hi Blueskies, I originally saw them in the Jeffers catalog. I think now PetSmart and Amazon etc have them. They are called Smart Doors. The link that ktlynam posted has them too.

Yes! I went to the basement to put laundry in the dryer and my neighbor's cat ran past me {#emotions_dlg.w00t}and out the window. She ripped the screen to get in. Scared the beejeebies out of me.

Thanks so much, nunya. We were just looking at them.

We have a PetSmart nearby.

Be careful of the electronic door. I know 2 dogs that were left out in the cold for hours because either the door became frozen shut. Luckily their parents found them in time.

I have both a storm door with a built-in doggie door and a storm door that I had a doggie door installed. I'd go for the one that is built-in. I found the built in one for $224 at either Home Depot or Lowes. It has a window that opens with a screen.

I had a cat come through the doggie door a few times but that has been it.

I've also had to crawl through the dog door a few times....locked myself out of the house. Mine is the only door to my back porch so I make sure to lock my house door out back that connects to the porch so a burglar may get into the porch but not into the house.
