Dog Stitches? Please Help

Hi Everyone -

I just started another post for doog food, so I thought I'd make a new one concerning dog stitches. My pooch had abdominal surgery on Friday and I'm concerned about his stitches. He constantly wants to lick in that area, but I put a collar on so he can't. I just feel bad because I'd like to give him a break from this collar, but he can't seem to leave the area alone. Also, he was startled this morning and jumped out of bed and I'm worried that he may have torn at the stitches, even though I don't know what I'm looking at. My question is this: what should the area look like where he is stiched up? I see a lot of pink and it's tough to look at. At what point do I get concerned? I appreciate any insight you can offer. I worry so much about my little man Smiley Happy Thank you so much.
