Doesn't Feel Like Christmas

[ Edited ]

I decorated, sent cards, took care of gifts, enjoyed some holiday treats, played holiday music, watched holiday programs, etc and the weather indicates Christmas but it doesn't feel like it to me. Maybe because the

year went by so fast or I've been so focused on some goals??

Anyway, wanted to wish everyone a wonderful and merry Christmas. =)

@ThinkingOutLoud , thanks for the cute picture.  This year went way too fast for me as well.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas and enjoy your day.

Weather wise it certainly feels like Christmas--a dusting of snow on the ground, frigid temps!!

i just said the same thing to DH today.  First year I did not do a Christmas tree.  I did decorate all my other usual which I love, but no tree.  Just didnt feel up to it.  We did get together with family during the week but 2 were missing one because of illness and the other work so will not be together Christmas Eve or Day.  And because of the weather will not be together at Son's tomorrow as usual, that is OK but Christmas is definitely different this year.

Tonight is Christmas eve when we used to have a houseful but tonight it is just me and DH.  We did exchange our cards and gifts and will be eating left over beef stew for dinner.  (saving electricity by not using the oven to make anything special).  Son will be out working to ensure power for those having power outages, so no Christmas get together at his house this year.  Thank goodness we did our family celebration last week.

I guess I just don't feel my usual joyfullness during the Season this year.

No snow in my area, but very cold for this region. Nope, doesn't feel like Christmas, but then I can't really remember the last time Christmas did feel like Christmas... I know it's been a while... Though I did decorate, I didn't do many trappings of Christmas (shopping, cards, wrapping, baking, big menus and so on...) this year, didn't miss them and since I've done them every other year, they pretty clearly aren't the determining factors that make Christmas feel like Christmas...  Smiley Very Happy

Re: Doesn't Feel Like Christmas

A COVID outbreak in our family cancelled Christmas Day & Eve. Brought my gifts to my nieces house for family & left them by her garage. When I moved away, she picked them up & we wished each other merry Christmas across the lawn.

I think the older you get the less it feels the way it was when you were a kid

just enjoy the day, relax and get away from the day to day

For me, Christmas celebrates the birth of the baby Jesus.  It is attending Christmas Eve services at my house of worship.  It is singing carols with fellow parishoners.  This fellowship is what makes Christmas meaningful for me every year.

Same but it hasn't *felt* like Christmas all month. Maybe it'll kick in tomorrow...or Monday.  Smiley Happy

Re: Doesn't Feel Like Christmas

Our weather says It is Christmas. We attended a 3pm church service. The parking lot was icy, and it's so cold, salt doesn't melt it. The service brought back memories of being in the church program as a kid and then having my two follow that tradition in our little country church.
