Re: Doesn't Feel Like Christmas

Christmas is not the "stuff".  It is what is in your hearts.

@goldensrbest and others, thinking about you!

I used to celebrate Christams in 90℉.  Many in the world do.  It was pretty great!

I just realized this is our 9th Christmas just the two of us.  No wonder it feels pretty normal now!  Woman Wink

@highmaintenancejan That IS a disappointment!

Can you have a special day with this new special family member after all heal from covid?

Wish you best wishes in the new year!

@highmaintenancejan

My relatives had to cancel their plans including 1st Christmas with GD because their kids have Covid.

Maybe a facetime or Skype call can help you get thru the disappointment.

Hopefully they'll be better soon and you can be together.

Merry Christmas🎄

@ThinkingOutLoud

Same here maybe since I'm aging the craziness leading up to today has wained.

My house was decorated, cards sent, packages mailed, etc. by 12/15.

I expected today to be just a quiet one but we are having friends for dinner.  Even this feels strange as I had very little prepping only 4 of us and now just waiting for it to cook.  I'm used to having a full house but that's changed over the years.)

Sometimes I wish I could turn back time. Although, this morning had a beautiful breakfast and gift giving with my family via Skype. It's not perfect but works -- even now GD older she's busy with her friends (which is good thing😊).

I hope you have a beautiful day Merry Christmas🎄

Same here. I did all the same things that you did, celebrated with friends and family, but for some reason it did not feel like Christmas. I can't put my finger on it, but this year had zero holiday spirit.

CNN is rerunning an episode of Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown re Christmas in Manila, Philippines, RIGHT NOW.  Looks pretty great.  Maybe that will get some of you in the mood.  Miss Anthony Bourdain, big loss.  It's in the 70s Farenheit in Manila today.

Re: Doesn't Feel Like Christmas

I don't have any Christmas spirit this year either. I did all the usual, traditional things with family, sent Christmas cards went to Christmas Mass. But I just feel empty inside, no spirit and nothing special, the way I usually feel!😔 This is usually my favorite time of year. I usually feel happy and renewed. This time, I feel like all of this preparation for one day was just a big waste of my time and money. Even my faith just seems to be unimportant. Maybe it's my age(?)

What is Christmas supposed to feel like? All the external trappings of Christmas can't make up for a Christmas in the heart and the celebration of the wonderful gift of Jesus.

That was beautifully stated, @GenXmuse !

I don't fuss with decorating, (i.e., no tree) and apart from the pizzelles that my DSIL asked for, I didn't bake one cookie.

The grandchildren did put on a beautiful Christmas play, and played beautiful accompaniment on tone chimes. That was a very special part of the reason of Christmas!

Today we'll get together again for gifts. But like my father always said, "It's what's inside that really counts."

Thank you ❤️
