Re: Does this PayPal invoice look real to you? Need some help, please.

Beware. You may receive an email with a link supposedly to PP, to deny the charge. Do not click on it. Just send it to spam and delete. It's another scam to get your information.

@Mindy D I received this same email earlier this week with a different dollar amount.  It's definitely a scam.  If you want, you can forward it to phishing@paypal.com and they will confirm for you that it didn't come from PayPal.

@Mindy D I haven't read all the comments so I'm sorry if this was already mentioned, but even if an invoice went to your account, you would need to log into that account and tell PP to pay it.  It won't come out of your account automatically.

this is not necessarily true.

if you use the PAYPAL service "pay in four," payments do come automatically out of your paypal account via the chosen payment method.

in regards to the spam email, i also always hover over the senders name if i am worried that it is not legitimate. it will almost always have some type of a strange email address. always directly logging into paypal is the best solution to see what is going on with your account.

I received this by email again yesterday; deleted it, as I have never had a PayPal account.   If you have not used your account for 15 years, it should be obvious this is not legitimate.

Hi. I have a PayPal account that I have never used or might have used at least fifteen years ago. I received two invoices that are probably not from PayPal because there's a capitalization error, PayPal in not an LLC and I am not addressed by my full name within the body of the invoices and no seller is named. I have forwarded copies to PayPal's spoofing email. I read that anyone can have PayPal send invoice bills and that I might need to go to my PayPal and deny payment to the invoices if they are there. I have no idea where my login is for them, so it will be a hassle to check. I don't even know how to use the website. I am thinking that if the invoices were sent from PayPal, then they would

not have so many errors. Should I go through all the hassle of trying to see if any invoices are there in my account? Is this what a real invoice looks like from PayPal? If you have one, could you please compare with this and take a look and let me know. Thanks.

@Mindy D

I saw your thread title and LOL'd.

I go through my spam email and every day always find a fake email from "Paypal" and always forward them to spoof@paypal.com ... and they always send me an email thanking me for helping to keep Paypal safe.

TWO ways you can quickly verify ....

First - If Paypal sends you an email, they always use your actual name.  If it's "dear client" or something like that, it's fake.

Second - Look at their return address at the top of that email.  If it's some weird email address from the U.K. or similar ... it's fake.

It's obviously a fake. If you haven't used PayPal in a lifetime, why you think this silly looking thing is real? Do you really think PayPal is sending you $369 out of the blue? Lately I've been getting notices and texts from Cashapp telling me they have money fir me. Lol.   I never downloaded that app so how could they have money for me?

Re: Does this PayPal invoice look real to you? Need some help, please.

I have never received a Pay Pal invoice that looks like this one.  However, I frequently get P.P. invoices that are scams.  I always check my Pay Pal account just to be sure there are no charges.  As suggested, I always forward the scam to Pay Pal.

I am glad that you posted the invoice.  It helps assuage your concern and alerts the rest of us to potential scams.

Re: Does this PayPal invoice look real to you? Need some help, please.

I have received fake PayPal invoices.  One was from a company I had actually used.  I checked my account and saw no new charge from them and also contacted PayPal who confirmed there was no new charge.  I am so sick of the fake bills we get from people with a "if you feel this is in error click here" or "call this number". 🙄
