Does anyone use shades anymore? (I notice some of my neighbors still use them).
We have had colored mini blinds for years to match our rooms. I always loved them but I'm sick of cleaning them. I was soaking them in the tub and scrubbing them and hanging them to dry. (especially the downstairs ones which seem to get extra dirty from cooking).
So I am slowly switching one by one to shades (which are much cheaper) here at the Ace store where they cut them to size. So far we have room darkening shades in the bedroom and now we got shades for the living room yesterday. (We still have curtains and or drapes up of course too, along with the shades). Next I want to get shades for the kitchen too.
PS) At our back French doors we just have drapes. I would love Levolor blinds for that area, but our cats may damage them (not sure but they did wreck 2 pair of drapes..lol), so I never got them.

Shorty: Haven't used shades in years. We had half-shutters in my old home but in my condo we used white blinds (had to by HOA standards).
Now we use blinds again. I find shades not as pretty but there are some nice decorative ones today. Roman shades are very nice.

I have an interior unit townhouse. I have plantation shutters in the front of the house and shades in the back, except for my sliders.

I just went to a Victorian home decorated with Roman shades. They opened from the top and bottom and were so pretty.

I always remove my shades before I go in the house.

Gato: Those are lovely. I think they are worth the cost, too. I wouldn't get tired of looking at them. In fact, I wouldn't get tired of living in that house! lol

Cakers if I had a place like that I wouldn't want to go anywhere.
