I just watched Riverdance on Ice on PBS and am amazed at the rhythm and cadence of the Irish dancers. So what's that got to do with cleats? It reminded me of my high school days in the mid-60's when everyone wore cleats (a/k/a taps) on their shoes. We had to go to the shoemaker to get them nailed onto the bottom of our shoes. That sound was so cool as we walked through the halls---click, click, click with every step....just a stroll down memory lane. Stroll? Who remembers the Stroll? We (young and old) danced it at my daughter's wedding last fall.
