Re: Does anyone notice a new speech pattern emerging aside from speed talking?

now I'm laughing. I hate the "vocal fry" too. and valley girl and well, we might as well list them all lol!

I wish I was one of the people none of this bothers but you know how there are different learners?

And well when music and voices, listening, auditory is important to how you "hear", it just makes it hard to listen if you can't, you know?

I'd like to give the hosts some nice voice speech and diction lessonsSmiley Happy while sounding natural of course!Woman LOL

Re: Does anyone notice a new speech pattern emerging aside from speed talking?

The two links presented up thread are hilarious!  Thanks for sharing them....

I keep thinking of the hosts on QVC and what their ultimate goal is.... to sell stuff.  By not correcting speech habits that are grating to part of the customer base defeats the purpose by getting a segment of the customers to turn off the offending host.  I've done that with two of them... one in particular!   Bringing the speech back to "center" or the most accepted form out there would be one of my goals if I were in charge.  Not hard and it doesn't take a long time....

If it's to appeal to the "younger" audience set, well okay, but let's face it, QVC's customer base has grown old with QVC and the younger shoppers (20-30 somethings) are just not interested in Shopping Channels no matter how hard TPTB have tried over the years to interest them.....
