Re: Does anyone here have a NOAA Emergency Weather Alert Radio?

Living in Nebraska (tornado country), I bought one several years ago. I do keep it plugged in 365 days per year. When it goes off, it's LOUD! But that's the reason why it was purchased. Smiley Wink There are six acres behind me and if it makes me (and my son & DIL) feel safer about where I live, that's all that matters.

I do keep it in the lower level so it's not in-my-face loud and if I really want to know what's going on, the exercise if good for me and going to the lower level is the safe place to be! For about $35 it has been a wise investment in my peace of mind.

Thanks everyone, if we don't get this kind, we'll get this other we saw, and it tells so much more.  Costs an arm and a leg more, but give us more info too.

Thanks to all, If we get this one, it'll go down in the shop so the loud noise from it warning us doesn't give us all heart failure.

@qualitygal Mine plugs into an outlet, but also can run on batteries (although I've never tried that since power has never gone out in the 33 years of living in this house). IIRC it was purchased from Walgreens a few years (maybe 7-8) ago for about $35 and I programmed my zip code into it. It's a nice secure, feeling.

Sounds like you have already figured out the perfect place for it! Be safe during wicked weather.
