I have a Maytag refrigerator and it has served us well. It is not side by side. 

 

But I am quite pleased with it. Never had to have it repared. And it seems like many friends and neighbors have not been as lucky. My one neighbor had a GE and needed a new compessoor before the refrigerator was 6 months old.

Whirlpool is the parent company of Maytag & KitchenAid. I own a Whirlpool side by side fridge in black without the water or ice dispenser. I always looked at those things as one more thing to go wrong in a refrigerator. I love this fridge & brand. If I needed another refrigerator, I would go with this brand. 

GE over 30 years ago used to be good, their Profile series was one of the best. But after buying a French door fridge from them, I couldn't wait for it to be replaced. It was replaced with this Whirlpool.
