I wouldn't do this normally but this isn't a normal time. I checked with my granddaughter's parents to find out what she'd like and bought it online (Amazon).
Usually I wouldn't do this but this year the availability and shipping are so uncertain that I thought I'd take the plunge.
One thing my DH are going to give her that's for nothing but fun is a Magic 8-Ball. Those things are so much fun, I'm tempted to get one for myself But I guess I should leave it there to make sure other people who want them can have them.

I have picked up a few little things for granddaughters. And a couple extra gifts for daughters. Things I ran across last couple months I knew they would like . I give cash, but I always insert it in a gift

Almost done with our shopping for Christmas. Need to make a Costco run for a gift card & then mission completed. I need to get some stocking stuffers for my 95 year old mom's stocking too. Santo visits her every year.

Not me. Î give cash for Christmas. It's seems most people need money and not more stuff.
Even my grands advised me that they have everything and don't really want anything. They told me not to buy them anything for Christmas. They really do have everything they could need or want. It is next to impossible to get them something.
I give my adult children cash and have for years. They appreciate it and I think they count on it now.
Now the grands are growing up and no longer want gifts either. My two granddaughters put their money in the bank..one is in HS and the other in college.
My grandson saves some...at his parent's strong urging, and spends some.
My cash gifts are very generous, but save me from running around shopping, wrapping and wondering if my gifts are really wanted or donated the week after Christmas.
My DH and I do not exchange and except no gifts from our children or other family members.
We don't need anything either.
My parents gave me and my siblings cash at Christmas too. I loved it!

I am almost finished my Christmas shopping. As usual I have the more challenging people left on my list!

I am almost finished. Started in July and glad I did with the mailing and delivery like it is today. Good luck.

I'm done and not taking any chances.

@GoneButNotForgotten Am I crazy or did you post a similar question on the Among Friends forum? I'm sure it was about the Magic 8 Ball. There were lots of answers. What's going on??

do you usually ask the parents of your grandchildren if they're ok with a present you want to give them? My d.i.l. is super-careful about that; at first I didn't like it but now I'm glad she's protective of her daughter (my granddaughter). Also, the parents have a better idea of what their children will like, especially since, due to the pandemic, I haven't been able to see her much lately.
One thing I ran by them was a Magic 8-Ball. I was kind of suprised when they gave the ok; I hope I can see granddaughter open in and figure out how to use it. I doubt we'll be there, though, due to pandemic considerations. (Of course they can make a video and send it to us.)

I, for one posted the same question, but I'm fine with it.
Sometimes, depending on responses, topics are pushed to the second page of a thread.

Oops; yes I did. Thank you for reminding me I'm getting forgetful in my old age.
