Does anyone else think this is unfair?

I am going to used fake names to make the point here.

One of my cousins had the lifelong dream of having a little boy when she got married and naming him Tyler. Well she did get married to a guy who was named John the 5th, no joke. Well she did in fact het pregnant with a boy! Upon finding out it was a boy her DH and the whole family insisted the he be named John the 6th, (seriously, this stuff is too stupid to make up). She was devastated. I suggested maybe using John as a middle name instead but when she brought it up to the family they were not having it at all. So she was stuck with it. Now let me mention she is very much a "don't rock the boat" type. Me personally I would have stood my ground and said that I would use it as a middle name but nothing else.

I have never been a fan of the whole "Junior" or the II or III or even beyond that! How confusing would it be to live in house with 2 people named the exact same name?! Plus I have always thought that children deserve their OWN identity. I do think its neat when people use a family name as a middle name but to go this far is ridiculous to me. What about the mom?! She is the one who had to carry the baby for 9 months!

I had my heart set on Avery for a boy and Morgan for a girl my whole life but DH vetod both of them. But we were able to compromise on names we both like. I think that forcing a pregnant mom into a name she does not want or like just to keep family happy is wrong.

What about you?
