Does anyone do the Pork/sauerkraut thing for New years?

Not sure but I think this is just a regional thing. But since I was a kid we always had to have a pork roast with sauerkraut/mashed potatoes for new years day. My husband's family always had sauerkraut/hot dogs/kiebasi at midnight new years eve, the following day was the whole meal. Do a lot of other people do this?
