Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

He taps or rings the bell.  Our neighborhood has a problem with people "porch shopping."

10grands, That is what I do and plus I really make a habit to try to be home. My one neighbor would call me and tell me that my package came, but she is passed, and her husband is soon to depart this world.

I am just wondering, does UPS ring your door bell or knock upon delivery? Our guy used to but the past few years he hasn't.

Well the other night 2 Christmas gifts we ordered were delivered and one was a kitchen aid mixer for mother in law (pricey). I checked and checked until 7 PM and then I thought well hes not coming.

About 830 I thought I better check again before DH goes to bed because I cant lift that mixer, (and we were right in the living room but we never heard the truck and he didn't ring the bell). Low and behold I found the mixer and another gift we ordered on the porch.

From now on, I will be checking off and on nightly for packages in case, as we order lots of gifts online.

PS he did this one time when we got our laptop long ago, and it was on the porch all night. But after I complained he would ring for a while, now he doesn't again!

Hi @Shorty2U,

Ours does what I call, "Drop and run," where he doesn't ring the bell, and just leaves the package/s outside of the building.

We live in an apartment building, and I don't even think that they are supposed to do that for security reasons, where anyone can just come up and take the deliveries if they want to, especially now at holiday season.

You can see the boxes out in plain sight, but usually our neighbors are nice enough to bring them inside and will either put them inside of the building's common hallway, or will even bring them and put them by our door.

We tend to look out for each other where I live and will do that for each other.

It's frustrating that the driver or the helpers don't bother to ring the bell to bother to see if we're here for the delivery because I'm sure that they would find that I would be here to answer it and take the package in.

He rings the bell - sometimes. I think it depends who is delivering the packages. I don’t always see them.

I hate when they (anyone) just drop packages off and don’t bother to ring the bell.

But, to be honest, because I work full time, I usually have packages delivered to my private post office for safety reasons. If Amazon says a package will be delivered on the weekend, and I’m going to be home, I have it delivered at home.

No.  Are we supposed to tip the UPS driver.  Golly, I will go broke.

@Fiero Woman

Not me! I have family that works with UPS and they're paid very well!

As for the OP's question, my UPS driver used to ring the bell for years, but not anymore.

Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

Drop package. Ring the bell. And run. .....Btw, being negative now: One of them (male) reeks of strong perfume/fragrance.  I have to air out food and other packages on my porch before I bring them into the house.  Most of the time I open them outside.  (While on a bike ride, walk, You can smell him (his fragrance) at a distance, getting in and out of his truck, running to and from various houses. I'm only guessing that he's spraying all of the packages in his truck.  I seriously don't know how he can stand driving around in all of that penetrating, very strong fragrance.   Well, enough negativity from me for today, lol.

Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

A couple or so years ago, I used to see them, at various houses, throwing a package on a porch and then hear a crash (usually a plant stand or plant pot, or some breakable decoration).  Not anymore, though, which is a good thing.  I'm the type to be more careful, but that's just me.

Re: Does UPS ring your bell?

Not even when I'm supposed to sign for the package. They also put a package at the back door and marked that it was at the front. I watch the tracking number to see if it's been delivered, then check. This time of year the package may be delivered to my house, or to the neighbor's house. They get temporary help that can't read numbers. My house numbers are 6" high and painted bright white, but they still don't see them well.Temporary delivery people know they aren't going to be working after christmas, so delivery can be sloppy.
