[ Edited ]

cause you to yawn too?

The eyes through which you see others may be the same as how they see you.

"About half of adults yawn after someone else yawns due to a universal phenomenon called “contagious yawning.” Contrary to popular belief, a new study from Duke University suggests that contagious yawning is not strongly related to variables like empathy, tiredness, or energy levels.

The only independent factor that significantly influenced contagious yawning was age: as age increased, participants were less likely to yawn. However, age was only able to explain 8 percent of the variability in the contagious yawn response.

Contagious yawning is a phenomenon that only occurs in humans and chimpanzees as a response to hearing, seeing, or even thinking about yawning.

Ultimately, contagious yawning remains an unexplained mystery to scientists.  It is possible that we may find a genetic variant that makes people less likely to have contagious yawns.."

I think I yawned at least 10 times while reading this article.

I'd have to strongly disagree with the phrase I bolded.  I am able to make my dog yawn each and every time, and he makes me yawn each and every time as well.  :-)

Yes, or hearing it over a phone. The Mythbusters did an experiment and couldn't get people to yawn based on someone else yawning and normally I believe them. but that's one I never got over and think was wrong.
