I shop around and get the better price. I rationalize it that I can then buy more stuff.

Me too.

People should shop around for the best price. It keeps businesses competitive.

Re: Does QVC ""get"" who their customers are?

While QVC may not have the best prices, I've seen posters say they shop here because of EZpay. I remember a poster was willing to pay $100 more for an outdated TV because she could use EZ pay. When posters suggested she save her money for 6 months, she said she did not want to wait 6 months to have a new TV in her home. Store lay-a-way you must pay in full before the item leaves the store. With QVC 1 payment and the item is yours.

The same is true for D&B handbags. You may get a better price but will you be able to break up the payments?

QVC knows their customers.

Perhaps.

Take two items, that are identical.

One is sold at a small town Mom & Pop store for, say, $35.00

The exact same item, is sold at Wally-World for $19.00.

Is it "wrong" to buy it at the higher price from the smaller store?

I "shopped around".

Yes, I could have bought it at the "better" price, but is it really in the long run?

That's why people should not be so quick to judge on how others choose to spend their money.

It just makes them sound snobbish.{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Re: Does QVC ""get"" who their customers are?

Here's my take. Sometimes people stay with an online retailer that they trust, and it's worth it to them, to do that. In the last year, my husband has ordered items from a lot of sites that popped up first, when he did online searches for them. But they weren't well known etailers with good reputations. He didn't know that and got burned. If he had to make returns, he not only paid return postage, but got hit with "restocking charges". So..for people who know and trust QVC, and can afford to spend a bit more with a company they've had a good relationship with in the past...I get that. It isn't what I do, but I don't expect everyone to think as I do.

I don't think anyone is judging how people spend their money.

Your comparison of a small "mom & pop" store vs a larger store who can sell identical items for less----I don't understand.

As a consumer, no retail venue pays my bills, adds to my savings, etc. so of course when it comes to buy I will always comparison shop to find the best price; nothing snobbish re that mindset.

Re: Does QVC ""get"" who their customers are?

As long as we're talking about comparison shopping, on the local level, I get the point that Plaid Pants is making.

I might spend more $$$ to buy something at my local hardware store vs. Home Depot, which is abot 15 miles away. But my local hardware store is more convenient, employs local people, and supports local sports teams and other youth groups.

My money...my choice to spend more, and I think it's worth it.

Me either. I take the time or I do not purchase.

So, you're implying that people who don't comparison shop, are stupid?

</ Well now. That is a good question. What would you call people who don't want to save money?

Re: Does QVC ""get"" who their customers are?

It's not always that people don't want to "save money". Sometimes they're just insanely busy...and time is money.

I know now, which sites to check, that sell items similar to what I see sold on QVC. But when I was working full time, and had kids who were busy with school, sports, etc....I had to make purchases a lot more quickly than I can now.

You see it, you put it into your cart, you check out. Move on to the laundry, bill paying, taking care of the kids, etc...
