Re: Does Anyone Else Get Tired of Writing Product Reviews?

I really wish people who don't have something of value to contribute to information about the product and/or vendor would not leave reviews. They're a waste of time for the careful reader looking for substance.

I also wish people who are just guessing at answers would stop responding to questions on Amazon. I'd like a nickel for every time I've seen, "I don't know, I haven't gotten it yet," or in response to a question on measurement, "I think it's 5 inches long," when the item measures 8.75 inches. Or leave a review based on having bought the item a decade before, when it's highly unlikely the product hasn't been tweaked in the interim, so it's not a valid review.

I'm not working for the vendor or Amazon--quite the reverse--so I'm not leaving a review unless I'm moved by a stellar or wretched experience with the product or want to correct bad product specs. If what I have to say isn't going to be useful to another buyer, there's no reason to do a review, IMO.

I don't think I have ever written a product review on anything.

Every once in a while I would get an email from Target, can you answer a question on (fill in the blank) you bought.  I don't respond to those either.

Re: Does Anyone Else Get Tired of Writing Product Reviews?

@Beauty Maven   I was called twice...once by the tablecloth company and once by the owner of a company where I bought waterproof dog jackets that leaked.

The dog jacket company sent me two brand new jackets in a different color and checked their inventory and discovered that all of the red jackets leaked.  She thanked me for bringing this to their attention.

They removed them from inventory.  That lady was very nice and concerned, but she did not post my negative review. I was surprised when she called.

If "it could be a full time job"?  I doubt QVC would be concerned you are not writing reviews. Heck, they know you are buying lots of stuff, and that means profit to them.

If I(me) buy 1 item a year here i may be overestimating my purchases. So writing them here are very unlikely. HSN, a few and if asked a question I can answer, I gladly write a review. If I have to go read or measure the item? Forget it.

Now as far as where I buy 95% of my items? The same deal, they ask and also says in their request, "don't know answer", makes it much easier. I read and write reviews, but a "full time job"? To me that's laughable, I am a frugal old guy!

Re: Does Anyone Else Get Tired of Writing Product Reviews?

I try to write reviews for products which either don't have any reviews yet or have very few of them. If a product already has hundreds, or even dozens, of reviews posted then I usually don't write one for those. Just depends.

Re: Does Anyone Else Get Tired of Writing Product Reviews?

I don't always leave reviews, but very much appreciate the ones that leave them.  I really rely on reviews when purchasing items.  But, I wish those who don't purchase the items would NOT review them.  It is not helpful.  And, I love the reviews on clothes on the Q.  I look for fit and quality comments.  It has saved me from buying things I might have otherwised purchased.  THANK you all!!

No, not at all. I very rarely write a review for any product. I’ll post casual reviews here but not usually on the product page.

Re: Does Anyone Else Get Tired of Writing Product Reviews?

You don't have to write any reviews; they are all voluntary. I wrote one today for something I ordered on Amazon and they would not post it because I didn't give 5 stars; took away one star because the vendor did some shady stuff....they said I could only send a canned message via Amazon....no more reviews from me, and prob not many orders either. I count on reviews to help me decide about ordering most things....but now know that many places have reviews that aren't legit; they generate them themselves and only positive ones. I am not speaking of QVC...their reviews are very helpful, even when they mention something that isn't very positive.

I rarely order anything online, so only write a handful of reviews a year.  If you're tired of writing reviews, you must order a heckava lot of stuff!
