I copied this picture to show that Doe's have multiple births.  Six is a lot to handle.

It seems that having two is common even three.

@Katcat1   Wow!  Poor momma, I do feel for her.  Beautiful family though.

@Katcat1

Poor momma!   I hope she has enough baby formula.  Have you seen the daddy around?  She's going to need help with that bunch!

BTW ....  How old are the babies?

I feel so sorry for mama and babies.  How will she adequately feed and protect all Six of them?

@Katcat1,

Thanks for this pic and info. I always thought the doe had two or maybe three fawns, never six!

Re: Doe with her six new fawns

It's a lovely picture of mama and her babies.  I also wasn't aware that deer could give birth to multiple fawns.  Survival in the wild for all animals isn't always easy, many obstacles.  However, I hope these young ones survive and thrive as they grow.

Thanks for sharing the picture of beauty.

[ Edited ]

Deer absolutely have multiple births; twins are most common and triplets are a rare occurrence.

My brothers neighbor is a retired DNR officer, who worked in nearly every county of WV, and he never saw a new mom with more than 3 fawns.

During rut, does are often impregnated by multiple bucks, so twins and triplets can be from 2 or bucks.  Bucks do not hang around  mom and babies as a family.

I do not believe this doe had 6 babies.
