THAT is the definition of hypocricy. Why wouldn't he. His wife had the insurance and quit her job so they must have insurance or be fined...its a law now. I am sure you have heard?
Sorry he is doing what is now the law. Those pesky laws.

Everyone who has posted comments that we are all hypocrites has "admitted" it, including myself.

Actually the man and his family should be eligible for 18 months of COBRA but it's more expensive probably![]()

Good point...and yes, COBRA is allowed to be 10% more expensive than buying a policy directly. It's considered an "administrative" expense and goes back to the former employer.
As a benefit consultant - take my advice - don't EVER go with COBRA...there are lots of options, including direct pay insurance, available.

I would say his buying the mandated insurance...and not going with the Cadillac policy of the gov't...shows he is not a hypocrite...quite the opposite.

Yes, we have, Lion. Maybe we're supposed to berate ourselves, or give ourselves 20 lashes with a wet noodle?

Yes I will admit it too. It is human nature. Those in denial find it easier to post examples of hypocrisy in others not realizing how obvious their own denial is to everyone.
