From what I read she took a leave of absence. That would entitle her to continue paying at COLA rates.I think it is honorable he chose to live like the rest of us will....on the mandated insurance.
He is also allowed to get his insurance through the federal employees. He's choosing not to. I don't know what's so honorable about that. He's a federal employee, he would contribute to it and be covered. There is no Cadillac policy that I've seen-and I have looked it over. If it's a Cadillac policy the policy holder pays through the nose.
Regardless of the law, he has two little girls and a wife. It's important that they be covered regardless of where he purchases his insurance.
Guess what... for now he has a choice...he is making it. I do not care.... as I am sure he doesn't... what anyone else thinks...its his life...not ours.

On 3/25/2015 Tribbles said:The Affordable Care Act does not compel members of Congress to enroll in DC’s health care exchange; it simply cuts off the government contribution to their insurance plans if they buy their policies elsewhere. “The final rule extends a Government contribution towards health benefits plans for Members of Congress and designated congressional staff so long as the health benefits plans are purchased via the appropriate SHOP as determined by the Director,” a summary of the final rule says. “Nothing in the final rule or the law prevents a Member of Congress or designated congressional staff from declining a Government contribution for him or herself by choosing a different option for their health insurance coverage.”
Thank you for this clarification of congressional insurance requirements.

EMT, In my experience here, you've always shown a propensity for self-awareness and honesty. This is another example of it, and I've also seen you apologize when you felt you'd made a mistake. The most recent example of my hypocrisy I can think of is judging someone for being judgmental... now that one's hard to catch and to break! I know there are more, and some are far more egregious, but that one's still on my mind. Thanks for posting that... this thread, and all the comments, have been great food for thought.

They can't see their own faults...just the faults of others.
Yes, that does make a lot of sense, to me. Sometimes folks with way too-too much high self esteem aren't very nice.

I don't think a hypocrite has either low or high self esteem.......IF they had high esteem they would feel the way they acted or thought was exactly right, and anyone else was out of touch.........IF they had low esteem, they would be too indecisive to take a stand and question their position.....and probably follow the herd
So what is a hypocrite........probably each and every one of us in one fashion or another..................................raven

I would say in most cases a big YES!! They feel inferior and by putting others down temporarily experience a boost which is not lasting.

Yes, they project their own issues onto others.

Oh, back in the mid-80's I was a fake baker too. I just SMH now when I think about it. Thankfully I never made it to the level of "tan mom". lol

The ones in politics sure don't have self esteem problems. Their problems are selective memories of what they have said and what they actually do themselves.
Say there is a war on women but pay women less..... (men and women are doing this)
