No but there are reported incidents of suicidal drivers that take out others...
Killing ONE person is ONE too many IMHO...
NOWHERE did I say one should keep flying
..I was addressing the poster who was comparing driving...

Find another job...Not sure your threshold for acceptable deaths, however a school bus can hold up to 60 children. A semi truck driver plowing into a building or a playground could cause a great number of deaths.

I don't know the mechanics of any solution, but mental illness is probably responsible for way more deaths than we are at all aware of. Pilots, bus drivers, train conductors, even the drivers of single cars.
I know facing so many deaths at one time is horrific making it seem as if something should be done yesterday, but I wish we'd find ways to make roads and tracks as safe as the air already is while we're at it.

I think the solution is the person TREATING people should report it IF they know it will cause harm to that person AND others. Too many mental illnesses are secretly hidden under the rug due to labels. Its about time everyone faces that mental illness is REAL!
Now what I heard is this man was depressed. I know lots of people who are depressed but would NEVER hurt ANYONE or themselves. So this is where it gets tricky and why more is needed to be done to educate people on who and who isn't a danger!
Last but not least my prayers are with those who lost family members in this horrific crash.
