A few years ago, DH and I started to go on a 1 week vacation yearly.  The last 3 years it has been a cruise.

We also have a travel trailer so we go camping about 5 or 6 times a year.

This year I am also doing an extended weekend girls trip to Sonoma. There will be 7 of us.  We leave on a Thursday evening and come back on Tuesday evening.  We rented what looks like a gorgeous home.  I cannot wait.

Re: Do you take vacations?

Absolutely! When I was working I traveled right around 50% of the time. Now that I'm retired, it's probably more like 30% of the time. I'd guess that 75% of that is travel to my place at the beach and the rest is to whatever strikes my fancy. The biggest change is now when I go someplace, I stay for at least several days, rather than 4 cities in 3 days like I often did when I was working.

DH and I are taking a few days (5) to go to Florida.  We have not had that many days away from home/and our business in probably 15 years!  We usually take 3 days at Thanksgiving and go some where.

We are not the best travelers...

The dog will not be happy.  We leave her with a friend but I guess she does not eat much while we are gone, honestly I hate to leave her!

@SharkE

We were there a week ago, stayed a couple days on our way to and  from rv trip to Texas .  Some high winds and tornado warnings, and a couple people were killed in a bad wreck right next to the rv park we stayed in, due to extreme winds ....We were glad to get back home .....have a safe rest of your vacation.

No ... I'm retired and my life is just one long vacation!

I live in NYC and there is enough going on here to keep me occupied the rest of my life.

I see friends and relatives when THEY come HERE!

@Mom2Dogs, I feel the same about my dog.  Usually my boss babysits her when we vacation for a week but this year he was on vacation the same week I was so she had to be boarded.  She was fine with the whole thing, I was not.  LOL

She goes on all our camping trips with us but anytime she's away from home, even with us, she doesn't eat.  I think she ate the equivalent of 1 cup of food the entire 5 days we were camping.  She just gets all out of sorts.

@Lipstickdiva , our dog is already a tad stressed, we have had a lot of thunderstorms this spring so she has been sleeping under the bed and then this week to add to her misery there has been heavy machinery up and down our street, working on 'something'.

We love our pets!

Since I've had dogs, I've not taken any vacations.  I prefer to be home. That's just my choice.

On the other hand, when I was married, I wanted to travel more but my husband didn't like to go anywhere unless it was to visit his family.  I never counted that as a vacation.

In between being married and having dogs, I did go to a few places.  That was also before RA set in.
