The last five years has seen one of the enduring icons of sixties personal freedom appreciate in value so quickly that many owners may not know the value of their car could soon eclipse the value of their home. Last Saturday, January 21, 2017, a 21-window Volkswagen Samba sold for $302,500, indicating that the trend is further accelerating.

Apparently that model was called the VW Samba and another model the Kombi...which I never heard of but did see those being driven extensively in the 70's in So Ca.  

In the rest of the country?  I have no idea!  Did you own one?

Of course I do. I was/am into motor vehicles. I had personal freedom and still have it today.

Naw, @Lovingq, at this point the VW, boyfriend & curtains have retired, been forgotten & too thread bare for any pics, lol.  The curtains "yellowed" as time went on...

That was the car my parents had the whole time I grew up. This is what I learned to drive on.

They had a high center of gravity and I once blew off the highway in one like that (maybe not as long) in Arizona.  Typical day in the early 70s for me!
