Re: Do you reapply your lipstick in public?

Never ever had mother or anyone else tell me that I shouldn't reapply lipstick in public. It sounds like a silly ""rule"" made up by people who are very insecure about etiquette. What possible harm is there? If it doesn't involve removing clothing I'll do anything in public!

Yes...discreetly, I see no problem with it.

Yes, I do. After I eat a meal. Because... it takes 8 seconds and it would be silly to hike to the ladies room just to touch up my lipstick.

Have any of you watched women putting on lipstick? It can be pretty funny how our mouths look. I will put on lipstick in public, don't think it is UNCOUTH!

The Queen OKs Public Makeup Application

Once you learned how to wear makeup, your mom probably drilled one hard and fast rule into you: never reapply in public! No lipstick at the dinner table, no touch-ups mid-meeting. A real lady goes to the powder room to make any cosmetic adjustments. But who’s more of a lady than the Queen of England? Last week, her Royal Highness pulled out a gold tube of pink lipstick mid-opening ceremonies at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She reapplied—no compact necessary! Call it a makeup etiquette revolution. After all, what the Queen says goes.

This is surprising .... my mother was BIG on etiquette and manners .... and she never mentioned not applying lipstick in public!

As for the queen ..... much ado about nothing. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Absolutely, unless I happen to be in the ladies room. That's what little purse mirrors are for.

Many years ago I read in an etiquette column that it's okay, but in three seconds or less.

I do, in my car. That's when I check and see I need a little help.
