Do you proof read everything you type?

I do. That's why it takes me so long to type out a post. Especially if I type out a long post. Then I have to read it over and over again to see if it makes sense to me. Does anyone else do that?

Pretty much . . . yes.

I was a proofreader for many years, it was part of my job. It's in my DNA now.

Pretty much. Stupidly, I sometimes forget to read it through until I hit enter so I have to go back and edit. I don't want to sound like an idiot. Smiley Happy

I type VERY fast and for many years (decades) my errors were extremely low as well. But now that my brain seems to be leaking out a little bit every day I find that I miss stuff until the second pass. D'oh! Hate that. I wasn't always a dunderhead.

sometimes. If I make a mistake usually someone corrects me.

Re: Do you proof read everything you type?

Sure. Sometimes I proof it after I post, so I can see what I've written in its final format........and that's why it appears as "edited". I find errors when I proof, and then correct them.

I do. Since this is casual conversation, I tend to type like I talk...with pauses, etc. I put thought into my posts, so I also write, let it 'cook' for a couple hours, re-read then post....but I always see something to add, so many of my posts have 'edit'!! Smiley Happy

Re: Do you proof read everything you type?

Proofing has been part of my job for 45 years, so yes, but pretty much unconsciously. When typing on a virtual keyboard, esp on the phone, undetected typos will creep in and I'm a n a l enough to edit afterwards to correct them most of the time.
