@Tinkrbl44I prefer old cars. Who would voluntarily get onstar like service?

@missy1

Not me!   The more "features" on a car, the more things that can go wrong.   My car doesn't have a computer, and my next one will be a pre-owned, computerless car .... I hope.

With the millions and millions of people online, the odds of my having a problem are slim.  I take normal precautions and will worry about it something happens.

Not really correct. It's about anything and everything you do online or about you in email, websites, etc. They're counting on the public being complacent about it. Smiley Sad

Waiting until the damage is already done will be a mistake imho.

I'm retired. I have no money. I do not own a home. There is no benefit for anyone to pretend to be me. Not a whole lotta damage possible. I have Lifelock, so if someone decides they want my identity (lol why on earth) I will know. I've had it (LL) for awhile, nothing to do with the new ruling.

It will certainly mean we will all be seeing more and more targeted advertising, but we already get a heckuva lot of that.

LOL someone pointed out on CNET that if everyone goes to VPNs for privacy, what's to keep the VPN provider from selling your info ;-)

Bad business for anyone selling your info-they know if they do it, they lose you-

This will only last until some guy with a senate seat gets his identity jacked, forcing him to author a bill before it's law again-

Not being political-just an example please-

If you order online/use a cell phone or landline/send texts/email/walk or drive on public streets/use most any type of electronics, your privacy is no longer private. If you think differently? Hey, it's your business.

Think you can't be tracked wherever you go, vehicle or otherwise? Any newer electronic near you or on you, the Shadow knows, and for the right $$$, will pass it on.

I have no intention of pretending almost everything I do is not being heard/watched or read. Also have no intention of living the few years I have left living in a bunker. Same with how I do business. Will continue to buy where I get the best for my buck.

Privacy? Just an empty and meaningless word now to me.

It was a nice period of time to have not cell phones, computers, etc.. and  (the degree of privacy) we still had. We lived without it. Yes, it's nice to have it now, but at what cost?

People communicated with each other, and children played outside. I more worry about the future generations (that are not adults yet).

You can purchase a VPN (virtual private network) for $40 a year, to put on your computers, that will protect your information.

Over the years I've purchased from so many online vendors I couldn't list them all and have seen many different medical offices over the years.

Of course, it's a political post and is gross misrepresentation.

Guess you missed my post. The media are speculating that there is nothing stopping the VPN companies from selling your info :-D
