Do you own your cable modem?

.........or rent it from your provider? I realized that I've been paying 7 bucks a month for years. I don't even want to add up how much I've paid for this outdated piece of junk. I have cable, phone, and Internet all on one modem, so I'm hesitant to buy one outright for fear of messing up the whole system.

Do any of you own your own modem for all 3 services? Any problems?
