I can have something in my hand one minute, turn around, and it's gone. Frequently missing are my CELL PHONE and the TV REMOTE. I need beepers on those things. Haven't lost my car keys lately, though!

I have three sets of car keys, at times misplacing at least two. The other night, I found two on my bed stand, buried. If I don't put things back where they belong, it takes forever to find them, drives DH nuts, as he puts everything in it's place all of the time. He reminds me how expensive car keys are, so I tell him not to worry, sooner or later the keys will show up. Smiley Happy

Once, we couldn't find the two remotes for the family room tv where DD watched, so I sat down in the recliner until there was a large enough crack to reach my arm down into the sides and back, and viola, there they both were, in the back at the bottom. I told her to put them on the table right next to the chair, too simple, I guess.

Oh how cute, Mousiegirl! I also had to set up a hook in the laundry room for him to hang the dog leash. Before that it was just tossed somewhere - usually somewhere where I (the klutz) would end up tripping on it or something. So, up goes another hook. Smiley Happy

I am a klutz also. Smiley Happy

I "drop" things constantly because my hands don't close all the way. If something lands on the floor where I can't see it, I can't bend over or get on my hands and knees and often have to wait for one of my daughters to come so they can get it out from under. Everything is messier because it all has to be "up top" as I can't open drawers and cabinets that are low in the kitchen. There is a set of pots on the top of my stove, my canned goods are stored on top of the counter, my bedroom is a mess because I can't make my bed. There is a big basket on my bed where I have to keep my meds and all of my personal care stuff. I could go on and on. And I was a "neat freak" all of my life so it bothers me a lot.

Oh yeah! The worst is when I put something where I 'know' I'll find it and it's a good safe place. I can go crazy looking for something I know is in this house. Sometimes I just have to back off from it a little bit and do some thinking. I think about stuff like when I last had the item in my hand, where is a place that I would be most likely to put it, and I just eliminate areas where I know I would not have put it, so that it narrows down the number of places in my mind (yeah, I think a lot!).

I'm pretty methodical about where I put things, actually for the express purpose of NOT putting them somewhere that would end up becoming a mystery. ha! Yeah, that backfires on me sometimes with things that I don't use frequently.

Then there's the husband, who works on the basic helter skelter theory of just dropping his things wherever and is always losing his phone, his keys, you name it. I fixed his key-losing problem, though.

But what might make me want to bonk him on the head even more than him constantly searching for his things is his reassurance to me when I'm looking for something - Well, he says, it's gotta be somewhere. Gee, no chit Sherlock. ha!

Umm... I think we might be related. {#emotions_dlg.blushing}

Yikes! I think all 3 of us might be related. I'm fairly methodical and organized, but my DH wasn't, and was the proverbial "bull in the china shop." Got things done, got them done quickly, but left a trail behind him.{#emotions_dlg.laugh} Bless his sweet heart.

Let's see - I've been looking for my pretty opal ring for about 30 years. That one's probably a lost cause!

Also, I've been looking for the manual for my Bose for a few months now - still possible I'm just bypassing it when I look.

I'm sure there are more, but they are lost in my memory for now.

Oh no! I love opals too and have a very precious, stunning opal necklace (antique) set in 18k gold that I lost once. It was many months and I did find it, with a few other pieces precious to me (like my Burmese rubies-ack!).

Uh - they weren't lost. They were where I put them. I had to get less creative where I stashed my most favorite pieces. Sometimes I'm my own worst enemy.

I'm so sorry you have lost your ring. That's a really long time to be able to hold out hope that you'll find it but I guess you never know. Could it have dropped into a drawer and either be in the bottom of a drawer, or have fallen out the back into the bottom of the dresser? Or maybe fell off the back of the dresser - or something like that?
