No, I don't like self-checkouts in stores. I prefer to check out with a real, live human being. Moot point now since I'm currently using the free parking lot pickup service. No possibility for temptation with that!

No as it takes a job away from a cashier and a bagger.
I DO use them, however, if I have 1 item and there is no express line open. I've noticed that more and more recently; they express lines have no one working the register.

I have used self- checkouts exclusively for several years. In my two favorite grocery stores where I shop early in the morning, usually only one cashier is working, so self- checkout is faster. (I am not super patient, and I hate to wait while customers fumble for change, wallets, coupons, etc.) The self checkout also allows me to separate items I buy for me from items I purchase for other family members. I always have a list and try to stick to it. However, I usually also am on the hunt for items that have been hard to find ( e.g., pumpkin, certain cat food flavors, Yasso bars), which I will add to my cart.

I rarely use them. Walmart only takes credit or debit cards at this point due to lack of change, they say, and I only use cash. It takes jobs away and if you have heavy items like litter or pet food, you have to struggle to get it out of the cart to scan it.

Not in grocery stores, unless I ran in for just a few items.
But always used it in Walmart...lines awful and slow, only a few cashiers used out of about 10 registers. The self-checkouts there are quick and easy...so much better. Walmart must be encouraging that, hence the 2 out of ten cashiers.
I do like what others have said here about bagging the way you want...often I have to tell cashiers in grocery stores to put the cans together, because for a while, everytime I got home cans were dented, due to maybe heavy glass items knocking against them. They say the lost "integrity" of the can can adversely effect the food...didn't want to keep going back with these items. But hasn't been an issue lately. Also, mostly getting food delivered from my large grocery. I am shopping myself at Fresh Market, I haven't noticed for sure, but don't think they have a self-checkout.
Do I get tempted? Apparently...can't tell you how many times I'm "just running to Fresh Market for a few staples"...$100.00 later...every...time.

I use them for small orders only. Both Lowe's and Home Depot have them too.

I will wait in line before using self-checkouts. Self-checkouts replace people and jobs. Besides, I don't work for for those stores.

I often use the self checkout, mainly because our local grocery generally only has one lane open and people in those lines usually have large orders. I try to use the self checkout closest to the person who is in charge, because I always seem to need some type of help.

A bunch of single serves are now in our stores. I think, so many people complained of not enough cashiers, that the store replaced the vacant checkout (people just didn't want to work) and now people can do it themselves. They don't need the chit chat you can get with a cashier. Me? just check me out and I'll get out of the way for the next person.

I used it once many years ago and will never use them again unless that is the ONLY option for checking out. 99% of the time, I do my grocery and stock up buying by getting to the store very early in the morning. The stores are not busy then and there are no long lines. Usually, I walk right up to a cashier to get checked out.
There are a few occasions where I might see something at the store that intrigues me and I will purchase it but normally stick to my list. I'm not an impulse shopper/buyer.
