These days, I rarely have more than $10 in cash on me. Usually just a couple on $1's. Who uses cash today? But, back the day when I carried cash, I kept the one dollar bills up front and higher denominations behind them. But I didn't organize them.

Do you smell new money when you get it from the bank? I don't do it in front of the teller, but I will give new paper $ a sniff. There's something about the smell of new $
OK, now that is just weird. I do it too. Don't tell anybody.
I love the smell of new books too.
Thank God - I was beginning to think I was the only one.
I like the smell of new books, new tablets, new textbooks.
I'm also like my father in that when I am going to give money as a gift, I get it from the bank - new. I know it all spends the same way, but I like the money gift to be nice looking :-)

My first job out of college was as a bank teller and they taught us to keep the bills in order, face up, facing the same way (easier to count quickly) so that's what I've always done. Mine are always in order.
I also worked for a bank years ago. All of the bills had to be turned the same way, and I've done it that way ever since.
That said, lol, I rarely carry much cash. So, there's not too much to organize. ![]()

I keep them:
* face side up
* in numerical order from lowest (on top) to highest
* facing the same way
A bit too a*nal? LOL

I may start out the day with the bills all lined up according to denomination but when I get home they are all jumbled up.Same here. I go out with them all in order and facing the same way. When I get home everything is a mess and I have to fix them again. I blame it on the cashiers who hand you your change all in a lump. Rather than taking the time to place the bills carefully in my wallet, I shove everything in so I can get out of the way for the next customer.
Funny you say that because I do the same thing. I hate when the cashier's just lump everything in your hand at once. Dollars, change and the receipt. I put it in my pocket and when I get to my car arrangement it in my wallet. Years ago I was a cashier we we were told to keep all money facing in one direction, hand the customer the change first so they could it away and then the dollars.

Add me to the list of those who organize the denominations in order. I have singles in the front, and largest in the back. They're all facing forward, and right-side up. I don't consider this OCD-- it's easier to keep track of how much you have... I do use hand sanitizer after I handle money, lol. Is that OCD?? I think it's just being smart.

When I carry some I do. I can't remember the last time I had paper money with me.

I put the largest denomination on the outside and work my way in; but I keep the one's separate in a little folded packet. I don't know why, just always have.
I also don't keep any change in my wallet or handbag. Years ago I did the Suze Orman only pay with a bill and put the change in a jar thing and it stuck. Really is a great way to save.
It is. Banks have caught onto this, too. My bank has a program called Keep the Change that rounds up all my debit card charges and automatically deposits all the "change" into my savings account either once a week or once a month - I can't recall without checking my account. It does add up and I don't have to think about it or carry it in my purse. ![]()
