I am getting a new energy efficient furnace tomorrow and new gutters ,that don't have to be cleaned ,on Tues. It's my home's Christmas, I guess, but it makes me happy anyway
What is your good news?
The Dakota pipe line has been stopped. They are going to look for ways to go around. That is good news for many.
EXCELLENT news @sunshine 919! I did not hear it had been stopped! What an amazing thing to see all the various Tribes come together like that for such a good cause.
@HappyDaze It's not being stopped. The Army Corp of Engineers announced it is being rerouted and they are looking for alternate routes.
oh sorry missed that part. Ugh so the "not in my backyard" kind of thing. Bummer.

I agree, even some military guys went to help. Glad to see we can still come together for a good cause.

@JeanLouiseFinch wrote:A couple of months ago, I posted in the Wellness forum about my sudden hearing loss in my right ear after taking a modest dosage of Lasix. My audiologist sent me to an ENT who ordered an MRI. He didn't think the Lasix was the cause, but felt the MRI would show if there had been a stroke in the ear or perhaps a tumor. I was nervous about the outcome and there seemed to be one holdup after the other. A couple of weeks ago, I finally got to meet with the ENT to discuss results. He said everything was completely normal and I just needed to see the audiologist to get my hearing aid for that ear reset. No one can tell me the cause of the loss so regardless of what he says, I still believe it was the Lasix as that was a new medication for me and nothing else in my lifestyle had changed. It sucks to have to deal with the loss and the frustration it causes, but I am relieved and thankful that there's no tumor.
That is scary @JeanLouiseFinch! So they don't think the hearing will ever come back? Is it full on hearing loss or partial? How frustrtating not to really know the reason but glad it isn't something more serious like a tumor!

I am happy/blessed to have a wonderful brother who helps me pay the rent and cook for me every now and then
More good news is I am out of the hospital and breathing better (I have COPD)

@HappyDaze I've been wearing aids in both ears for several years. My loss was close to equal on both sides and I've been managing just fine with the aids. I definitely noticed something wasn't right, but kept thinking my one aid had a short or something. I even went to the audiologist to have him check it and it was fine. The next step was to have a new hearing test. He was surprised and concerned by the drastic change in one ear and said we needed to get to the bottom of it. On the way home, it dawned on me that I was taking Lasix so I started researching when I got home. It turns out Lasix is an ototoxic drug. I made an appointment with the nurse practitioner. The nurse practitioner said in nursing school they were always taught that with the injectable kind to push very slowly in order to reduce the risk of sudden hearing loss in the patient, but she hadn't been aware of the same risk as an oral medication. If I was aware that it was potentially ototoxic when the loss first occured, the hearing could have possibly returned had we intervened with a steroid series within 14 days. Even though I was well beyond that time frame, we tried anyway, to no avail. The next step was the ENT and MRI, and I would have followed through with whatever recommendation he made. My loss now is 38% in one ear and 52% in the other. Could it be that it's just part of aging? Of course, but I'll always wonder. And no, my hearing won't get any better. If it stays like this, I'll be happy, but there are no promises. Hearing loss is prominent in my family history. Both of my sibblings have been wearing aids for years, too, and sometimes I don't think they're doing either of them any good because they still miss a lot in conversation and ask people to repeat. At least with my aids in I can keep up.

This is a small good news but it's huge to my daughter and me.
Years age probably 30 years ago I made my daughter a Cabbage Patch doll. Well over the years she has moved many times. At one point my son her brother was storing a bunch of her stuff in his basement. Well he move across the street and I have asked him many times if he had her bag with her dolls in. He always said all he had was her bed. She's been heart broken all these years thinking she lost that doll. Well I was just over there down in his basement and you will never believe what we found. Her bag of dolls. I'm so happy for her. She coming over to help me put up Christmas decorations so I can't wait to show her. I just pulled them out of the washer and they washed up like new. I hope I can sleep tonight.

Good news for me? I can now sit for close to 10 minutes before pain forces me to stand up. Trying to add at least 1 minute longer each week. Don't sound like much, but for me it makes me feel the progress.
@cherry We gut new gutters with LeafFilter, no more leaves plugging up the gutters and down spouts.
