Re: Do you have house cleaning help?

Member of Nextdoor.  Find all kinds of local advice and help.  I do have help with cleaning twice a month, two very nice gals who come and do a great job.  We also have someone to mow our lawn and someone to check in and see if something needs repair.

This all started slowly overtime.  Perhaps age, perhaps it is just so much easier to have someone do it.  Not breaking the bank.  Honest local people helping out at fair price points.

Re: Do you have house cleaning help?

At my husbands insistence he wanted me to have a cleaning person.  It was a lot to care for him & the house, in his opinion.  There was only the 2 of us.

Well, they charged $150/2 people/2 hours, bi-weekly and honestly, I think they did a terrible job.  My bathroom did not sparkle like they said it would, didn't do anything more than swiffer my floors & furniture.  Although, my house "smelled" clean from the Mr. Clean Febreeze scent they used.

I complained to my spouse but he was insistent to keep them.  I hated everytime I wrote that check.

I fired them the week after my spouse passed. I enjoy cleaning my own house which really doesn't get messy I'm a little OCD & do it at my own pace.  Someday I might hire another service when needed.

Re: Do you have house cleaning help?

@homedecor1 : My cleaning girls are for every two weeks $155 and clean in one hour. I forgot the name but the products to clean has no scent. So many things thay " fail to clean". The handles to the faucets in the bathroom, around the toilet, table next to my recliner, dusting furniture in the den. I complain to management and they said they will remind the girls of my cleaning contract and for me : Don't say anything to the girls.Very frustrating but I have a bad back.

Ugh, @SouthernBee.  There's no competition you could try?  Not cleaning around the toilet isn't very helpful.

Re: Do you have house cleaning help?

When I was working I had someone come in to clean every other week.  It was a lifesaver.  A great thing about it was I would remind the family she was coming and they would put all their stuff away.  If I told them I was going to clean they wouldn't think to do that for me.  Now I am retired and do the cleaning myself.  For awhile it was rewarding to see the result, but I am over that!  Now it is just a chore.

I enjoy a neat and tidy house.  My DH is messy.  That's my biggest challenge and I love him to pieces so I deal with it.

Re: Do you have house cleaning help?

@tansy : I chose the cheapest cleaning company but chose the premium cleaning package hoping to have better cleaning done. Whole house not cleaned. Just the areas if we have visitors. They clean the living room, hall, combined open area for the family room, dining area, kitchen and 1 1\2 bathrooms. Thinking about a lower price cleaning package and DH said no.
