Didn't grow up with any, didn't make any after I married and started a family, and still have no interest in starting any.

Growing up my Mom would make sauerkraut and have us eat it. I didn't like it then and still don't. She said it brings money for the new year. It didn't work. Lol
My husband and I didn't have any with us and the kids.

Remember as a child my mother always took down the Christmas decorations and tree on New Years Day. I usually do the same. Otherwise, nothing special on NYE. Usually in bed before midnight.

New Years Eve, as it happens, this year we will finally be able to celebrate Christmas.
Usually on New Years Day, I am doing a Herbed Rubbed Pork Loin roast, candied sweet potatoes with butter, brown sugar, and kahlua, black eyed peas, fresh collards, and corn bread.

My mother would always say that it's bad luck to leave them out after Dec. 31st, so we take them down on December 31st. She always said that you don't want the old year coming into the new year. I know people have different opinions about when to take down decorations, but I am just sharing my family traditions. Mine will be coming down on December 31st.
New Year's Day: We always serve black eyed peas for good luck, collard greens or turnips for money and just because it's so dang good, we serve fried pork chops and cole slaw with the meal. YUM.
Oh my gosh, my grandmother passed down that as well-she said it was bad luck to have two trees in one year! So mine usually comes down the 31st if not sooner.

@Meowingkitty , ain't that the truth. The street behind me just exploded some fireworks and I about jumped in my sink while washing dishes, lol.
They only exploded two fireworks then stopped. Oh heavens to Betsy, they gave the neighborhood a preview of what's to come, lol.
