I don't drive anymore, but when I did . . . if someone is behind you riding your bumper, put your right signal on and slowly drive off the road as soon as you can onto the shoulder, and even if it's onto the dirt. Let 'em speed right by!

If you live in FL don't drive between November - May the "birds" are here & boy, are the roads crowded & defensive driving takes on a "whole new meaning" , i.e., I think I'll put on my right blinker to turn on a 3 lane highway -- oops I needed to make a left --they just come over, never look, etc. (Just recently I-4 was named most "dangerous" highway in our area!)
Just kidding but true experiences!!!
The best thing I learned & remember to this day (advice from my dad):
If you see a ball, bike or toy on a sidewalk -- a child is not far behind!
Never drive in the far left lane during rain storms - left lane normally floods first.
Never rely on your side or back-up mirror always turn around & look.
I still think about these today & so true!

While I normally go even slower when someone is on my tail, I wish everyone would heed this advice if there is a caravan forming behind you. This means you're going too slow and you should pull over.

'When you're late, just slow down'. Never speed-up. 'Just slow-down.' Something my dad would often say, and it has always worked. 'Better to be late than not arrive at all.' was another one of his tips.

(Some) dads have a calm way to instill driving tips deep into our minds, forever. ![]()

When following a tractor trailer, always have your headlights on, and stay far enough behind the truck that you can see his left or right rear mirror. If you cannot see his mirror, that driver cannot see you behind his trailer.
If you drive a very small car, such as Prius, Smart car, Fiat, VW bug, etc. do not drive long distances sandwiched between 2 tractor trailers, because you are invisible to both drivers. The tractor trailer behind you cannot see over the hood of the truck, so unless traffic flow is fast enough for you to stay several car lengths ahead of him, that driver cannot always see your car.

Drivers, stay off your phone's and don't text-- shouldn't have to even say this but I see it ALL the time!
