I aspire to be like my mother. She amazes me daily.

Malala Yousafzai.
May I have even a millimeter of her courage in my lifetime.

Me too. Especially about the questions. Oh how I wished I knew about their early lives, where they came from and all the information that died with them. I asked my Mom questions and she knew nothing. Apparently she never asked her Mom anything. I'm so sad about that. So much is lost.

My dear, sweet father was my role model. He lead an exemplary life. Based on our religious beliefs I am sure he has been rewarded in a Heavenly afterlife.

Because my mother died when I was just 11 years old, I'd have to say my mother-in-law. She lived an exemplary life and was a caregiver for her husband after he had a major stroke. She even retired from her job at the time, dedicating her life to him in the time he had left. She had such strength and wisdom and courage. After he died nearly five years later, she became a volunteer and for the rest of her 95 years was involved in giving back to her community and her church. She was a wonderful woman who always put others' needs ahead of her own. Everyone loved her and still talk about her with much love and affection even though she's been gone four years. She was a true inspiration to others.

I feel the same.

I have another that I just thought of.
Iyanla Vanzant.
A thread going on now reminded me of her.

I guess I don't.
I did learn a lot from my so-called mother, I suppose - everything NOT to do. There's some value to that. ![]()

It's sad isn't it? When we're young, we think we know everything only to find out later that we don't know much. There are so many questions I have for each grandmother! My mom was the same as yours, didn't ask or didn't tell me much. Now I can't ask her either.
I have 2 granddaughters and neither seems very interested in my life! And, so it goes.
