Sweet peas! So many different colors and they smell so good.

I love flowers.  My favorites would depend on the season and whether we are talking about inground flowers or flowers in a bouquet.

It would be easier for me to name my least favorite. (Stargazer lilies, they are beautiful but their scent makes me gag)

@hummermom

I forgot about sweet peas.  My mother always had bouquets of them in the bathrooms.  I have never been successful growing them.  I will have to amend my list:

Peonies

Gardenias

Sweet Peas

Re: Do you have a favorite?

[ Edited ]

Many cut flowers make me sad--it has to do with memories of my late father's funeral.

I like sunflowers, though, in a vase.  Growing in the ground, I like every flower from buttercups on up to peonies.

ETA:  In my subtropical yard, my annuals are red impatiens and red poinsettias (I plant my Christmas pots after the season).  Poinsettias are perennials in places like St Thomas, but even in my yard they last from 1-3 years.  Where I live they bloom only in the holiday season or shortly after, depending on what month the season changes from very hot to temperate.

DiAnne, have you tried sweet pea starts? They grow well for me. I've also had success with the knee-high variety (seed)  grown in containers on the deck.

Give them a try! You might be surprised.

Some years ago, when I lived in Houston, I became enamored with the plants called bromeliads.  They are tropical and like warm humid climates.  I had a large greenhouse and a couple hundred different species.  I was active in the Houston Bromeliad Society.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) I relocated to a very dry climate and found trying to grow them here was impractical but I still love them.

For cut flowers, I like lilies, roses, and daisies.  For my landscaping shrubs, I'm partial to the Encore azalea which blooms 4 or 5 times each year, and I also like camellias and hydrangeas.  For flowering trees, I love magnolias and crepe myrtles and often cut small branches for my vases.
